If parents like, Joanne Charron, felt that the makeup of the EMSB Central Parents Committee had to be changed, then that should have been democratically voted upon at the CPC.
Instead parents who align with Joanne Charron and the EMSB chair Mancini hijacked the EMSB CPC without any authority and went to the school board to request the change.
THE EMSB council does not have the legal right to change the elected representation on the Central parents committee mid year.
It is akin to the current provincial government increasing the number of MNAs sitting in the National Assembly and loading the newly made seats with Liberal members. It is making a mockery of the democratic process.
In sports it be akin to changing the game rules mid game in order to favour the home team.
Then again, the EMSB runs the council of commissioners as they see fit with little or no respect for the legal system opting instead on using tax payers dollars towards the legal battles that ensue. It appears that the EMSB operates more like the mob than a democratically elected body.
It is the exact reason why Bill 86 is needed and why the Education minister requires more control over these rogue operations.
School board chairs and vice chairs are paid quite handsomely for their services and contrary what Ms Charron says, are indeed protecting their jobs. As are the school council members of most of the provincial school boards including the Quebec English School Boards Association which represents the English school boards.
